Women's Connection Brunch

Popular Farmington Historian, Howard Nobel tells us his Special Feature Presentation, "Waltzing Thru Missouri" is a little play on our state son, "The Missouri Waltz." It is a survey of some of the interesting and unique place names, large and small that are located in our state. We will event try to once and for all settle the issue of how to pronounce the name of the state we live in and what the name means. In addition, we will try to decide if Missouri is a northern, southern, eastern or western state.

Howard will be followed by Laura Singleton from Bella Vista, AR who was born in Mobile, Alabama, graduated from the University of Texas and practiced public accounting for 30 years in Austin, TX. In her practice she taught doctors, small business owners and others., Now she is happily retired and is the treasurer of two golf leagues, a Bible study guide and financial coordinator for her local Women's Connection. She will share the rest of her story in her presentation, Remember Her?"

This Women's Connection Brunch will be held Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at the Farmington Presbyterian Chruch Fellowship Hall located at Columbia and Casey Street from 9:15-11:00 am. Your $10 brunch reservation is needed by July 5th by calling 573-747-3854 or 573-358-1274.

Baby Boomer Reunion Concert

The Baby Boomer Reunion Concert lights up the Farmington Centene Center stage for the 22nd straight year during its annual time slot of the first full Friday and Saturday in August (which will be on the 2nd & 3rd of this year).

As always, the production features 50 outstanding musicians from all styles and backgrounds who come together for one weekend each year to recreate the greatest popular music ever recorded. This live concert experience ushers back wonderful song remembrances from the 30-year, Baby Boomer era of 1955 (the first year of the pop charts) up through 1984. All performers in the production have local ties to the region, either living here now or having grown up in the surrounding area.

One of the attractions that comes with the custom of the Baby Boomer Concert is to incorporate a wide variety of musical styles into the foundation of the show. This year’s line-up is no exception. To demonstrate those extremes in styles, here is a list of a few of the artists whose music will be featured: Lynyrd Skynyrd, Miami Sound Machine, Kinks, Kool and the Gang, Everly Brothers, Carpenters, Creedence Clearwater Revival, McGuire Sisters, Captain and Tenille, Heart, Mamas and the Papas, Partridge Family, Frank and Nancy Sinatra, Paul McCartney and Wings, Johnny Cash and June Carter, Earth Wind & Fire, Osmonds, Styx, Allman Brothers and many more.

The performances for this year’s show will be held on Friday and Saturday nights (August 2nd & 3rd) beginning at 7:00 pm each evening, and also at 1:00 pm, Saturday afternoon (August 3rd) with the ever-popular, full-show matinee.

Tickets will go on sale for all three shows beginning Monday, July 1st at the Farmington Civic Center. The first 3 hours of that day (8:00 am – 11:00 am) will be devoted only to those who show up to purchase their tickets in person at the Civic Center lobby. Any time after that early morning slot up through the performances; tickets can be acquired at the Civic Center help desk or ordered through the Civic Center phone number (573) 756-0900. All tickets for all shows are reserved and are still held fast at $13.00 each. No other community does anything that is this unique, entertaining and fun. Please, don’t miss it!!!
