Missouri State Highway Patrol Announces Driver License System Changes

Jefferson City, Mo. (KFMO) - The Missouri State Highway Patrol is preparing to implement major changes to the driver license testing process statewide. To accommodate this transition, all driver examination stations in Missouri will close early on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at 12 p.m., and remain closed all day on Friday, November 8, 2024. Normal operations will resume on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, following the Veterans Day holiday.

These closures are necessary for the integration of a modernized system that will directly connect to the Missouri Department of Revenue's new driver license system. This upgraded system promises to streamline the entire testing process, offering a more efficient and secure experience for both examiners and applicants.

A key feature of the new system is the digital reporting of test results. Under the old system, test results were processed manually, but the updated technology will allow instant transmission of scores from testing stations to the Department of Revenue. This will reduce delays in processing new licenses and help deter fraudulent activity.

In addition to efficiency improvements, the Missouri State Highway Patrol has announced an expansion in language accessibility. The Class F written test, which is required for all non-commercial drivers, will now be available in 20 different languages, catering to Missouri's diverse population. Furthermore, for the first time, a video version of the test in sign language has been created, thanks to collaboration with the Missouri Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. This marks a significant step forward in making driver testing more inclusive for individuals with hearing impairments.
