Ashcroft Not Running for U.S. Senate

(Jefferson City, MO) Missouri Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft says he will not run for the United States Senate seat held by Roy Blunt. Blunt recently announced he will not run for reelection in 2022. In a press release Ashcroft says "...After intense, prayerful consideration we have decided to remain devoted to the work Missouri voters have entrusted to me as secretary of state. Our hearts are in Missouri and we cherish the opportunity to continue raising our family here. Service to Missourians is a profound privilege in which we intend to persist and honor in every respect." Some had speculated Ashcroft would run for Blunt's position while others suspect he could try a run for Missouri Governor instead.
