Baker Is Sentenced to 20 Years

(Bonne Terre, MO.) The woman found guilty of a Class B Felony of abuse or neglect of a child resulting in death, 38 year old Roberta Baker, is going to prison for 20 years after being sentenced by Judge Wendy Wexler Horn after a bench trial May 13th. Baker was accused of causing the death of her newborn child. Baker was initially arrested for the death of her son Elijah, February 23rd of 2018. Baker admitted to police she had given birth to the child at home in the early morning of February 22nd and didn't take him to the hospital or ask for any assistance because there were active arrest warrants out for her. Toxicology reports showed the child had meth in his system.
