City of Farmington Donates Police Car to the City of Iron Mountain Lake

Farmington, Mo. (KFMO) - The City of Farmington has donated a decommissioned police car to the City of Iron Mountain Lake.

The car, a 2011 Ford Crown Victoria, was in excess inventory and no longer usable by the City of Farmington Police Department. To make the donation possible, the St. Francois County Sheriff’s Department donated excess equipment from their inventory, including police lights, and the City of Farmington Maintenance Department made the alterations necessary for the car to function as a police vehicle again.

Mayor Larry Forsythe, Police Captain Larry Lacey, Sheriff Dan Bullock, representatives from the City of Iron Mountain Lake, and Missouri State Representatives Dale Wright and Mike Henderson finalized the transfer at the Farmington Fire Department.

The City of Iron Mountain Lake does not currently have a police officer on staff, but with the donation of the police vehicle the community takes another step toward having functional police force. The St. Francois Sheriff's department will run a police substation in Iron Mountain Lake in the interim.
