County Adopts New Wastewater Treatment Ordinance

St. Francois Co., Mo. (KFMO) - St. Francois County officials are adopting a new ordinance that deals with the inspection and installation of home septic systems.

The Supervisor for the Environmental Department at the St. Francois County Health Center, Kaleb Erwin, says the Offsite Wastewater Treatment System, or OWTS ordinance, will give greater authority in the permitting process to the county instead of the Department of Health and Human Services in Jefferson City.

According to Erwin, the new ordinance is designed to expidite the treatment system installation.
