Crash in St. Francois County

St. Francois Co., Mo. (KFMO) - A Park Hills man, 24-year-old Philip H. Kennedy, and 3 female juveniles from Park Hills, ages 0 to 4 years old, are recovering from injuries sustained in a two vehicle crash Thursday night in St. Francois County.

Missouri State Highway Patrol records indicate the accident took place at 10:38 p.m., as a van driven by Kennedy was headed north in Highway 67's northbound lanes at the Fairgrounds Drive exit. A diesel semi truck that was towing a trailer, was stopped in the highway due to a previous crash ahead. It was driven by 69-year-old Donald R. Bates, of Steedman, Missouri.

Kennedy failed to stop and his van crashed into the rear of the trailer towed by Bates truck. Kennedy was seriously injured and was flown to Mercy Hospital at St. Louis. The 3 girls all received minor injuries and were taken to Parkland Health Center at Farmington.

Everyone involved in the wreck was wearing a safety device during the crash.
