Crash in Ste. Genevieve County

Ste. Genevieve Co., Mo. (KFMO) - A 68-year-old man from DeKalb, Illinois, Michael Thompson, is recovering from serious injuries after a traffic accident in Ste. Genevieve County Friday night at 7:45 p.m.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Thompson's car, and a diesel truck driven by 26-year-old Cherell N. Wilson, of Springfiled, Illinois, were headed north on Interstate 55, just north of the 162 mile marker. Thompson attempted to pass Wilson's truck on the right shoulder of the highway and lost control of the automobile. The car crashed into the unit being towed by Wilson's truck. Thompson's vehicle ran off the left side of the road and crashed into the median cable barriers.

Thompason was flown to St. Louis University Hospital.
