Distracted Driving Blamed For Traffic Fatalities

Park Hills, Mo. (KFMO) - Even though the amount of fatalities on our roadways are declining, distracted driving is an increasing issue with the use of cell phones and other electronics.

An Area Engineer with the Missouri Department of Transportation, Corbin Carlton, says Missouri's new law against the use of electronic devices while driving, should help curb the problem.

Enforcement of the new Siddens Bening Hands Free Law began January 1, 2025. The law prohibits all drivers from manually typing, scrolling, or holding a cellphone, or another wireless device, while operating a motor vehicle.
