Farmington Fire Department Releases September 2024 Monthly Report

Farmington, Mo. (KFMO) - The Farmington Fire Department has released its monthly report for September 2024, highlighting both emergency response statistics and community activities.

Emergency Responses

In September 2024, the department responded to a variety of calls, including:

  • Vehicle Accidents: 18 incidents this month, contributing to a year-to-date total of 113. This marks an increase from 100 vehicle accidents at the same point in 2023.
  • Medical Emergencies: 118 incidents were reported, bringing the year-to-date total to 1,220. This is up slightly from 1,189 at this time last year.
  • Structure Fires: Fortunately, there were no structure fires reported in September. However, the year-to-date total remains at 9, compared to 14 by this time in 2023.
  • Other Calls: The department handled 117 miscellaneous incidents, such as fire alarms and public assists. Year-to-date, they have handled 1,077 of these incidents, down from 1,121 in 2023.
  • Mutual Aid: Farmington provided assistance to neighboring departments 16 times in September, adding to a year-to-date total of 209, compared to 230 mutual aid responses last year.

Simultaneous Calls and Alternative Response Vehicle Usage

One notable statistic is the 27 incidents of simultaneous calls, where the department was handling multiple emergencies at once. The Alternative Response Vehicle (ARV) was deployed 154 times during the month, helping to efficiently manage the high volume of calls.

Fire Safety and Community Engagement

In addition to responding to emergencies, the Farmington Fire Department remained active in fire safety and public engagement throughout September. The department conducted multiple fire safety inspections, including at the Children's Advocacy Center on September 4.

Community Events and Trainings

The department’s training room hosted a variety of community groups and training events. Highlights include:

  • Daycare CPR Training: Sessions were held on September 7 and September 21 for daycare providers.
  • Public Safety Committee: Held a meeting in the fire department’s training room on September 10.
  • Martial Arts School and Elks Family Picnic: The department participated in public relations events on September 21.
  • Historical Society Tour: The St. Francois County Historical Society met at the fire department on September 25, and a group of homeschool students toured the station on September 27.

Additionally, Civic Center employees received CPR training on September 30.

The Farmington Fire Department continues to serve the community not only through emergency responses but also by fostering public safety education and community outreach efforts.
