Farmington Man Charged with Multiple Child Sex Crimes

Farmington, Mo. (KFMO) - A Farmington man has been charged with multiple child sex crimes.

According to court documents, 71-year-old Shane S. Verges has been charged with one count of Child Molestation, 1st Degree, Class C Felony and four counts of Attempted Child Molestation, 1st Degree, Class D Felony. The events took place between June 4, 1995 and June 3, 1998, where Verges knowingly subjected the victim, a child less than 12-years-old at the time, to sexual contact by touching the victim's genitals with his hand, sat the victim on his lap and unbuttoned and unzipped the victim's pants, and placed his hand on the victim's hip and moved his hand toward the victim's genitals multiple times.

Verges was placed into the St. Francois County Jail on a $250,000 cash or surety bond and has since bonded out. Verges must comply with bond conditions.

A court date is scheduled for November 15.
