Farmington Schools Respond to TikTok Threat; No Imminent Danger Found

Farmington, Mo. (KFMO) - The Farmington School District is addressing concerns following a potential threat made against Lincoln Intermediate School, posted on TikTok. At approximately 8:10 a.m. Friday morning, district officials, in collaboration with law enforcement, identified the student responsible for the post.

Director of Safety, John Krause, says quick action was taken.

After a thorough investigation, it was determined that there was no imminent threat to the safety of anyone within the district.

“We take any and all threats seriously,” stated district officials. The school district is continuing to work through its safety protocols in consultation with law enforcement to assess the situation and determine any need for further action.

The Farmington School District urges parents and community members to have open conversations with their students about the importance of responsible online behavior and the serious consequences of making threats. Students are encouraged to report any concerning information to a trusted adult, school staff, or law enforcement.

Community involvement is also vital to maintaining school safety. The district requests that anyone aware of threats related to its schools report them to a staff member, law enforcement, or utilize the anonymous Tip Line available on the Farmington School District’s website.

"By following the simple rule of ‘See Something, Say Something, Do Something,’ we can help create a safer community," the district emphasized.

Parents and community members with questions or concerns are encouraged to contact the WL Johns Administrative Building at 573-701-1300 ext. 2009.
