Jefferson County, Mo. (KFMO) - A fatal crash on northbound Interstate 55 in Jefferson County early Monday morning resulted in the death of a Perryville man.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at 7:18 a.m. on March 17, just north of the Danby Road overpass. A 2021 Freightliner Cascadia, driven by a 49-year-old Perryville man, struck the rear of a 2020 Peterbilt 389. The impact caused severe damage to both vehicles. The driver of the Freightliner was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Peterbilt, a 50-year-old man from Knoxville, Alabama, sustained minor injuries and was taken to Mercy Hospital Jefferson by ambulance.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
