Fatal Crash on Missouri 21 Claims Life of Potosi Woman

Washington County, Mo. (KFMO) - A two-vehicle crash on Missouri Highway 21 at Peacock Road in Washington County has left one woman dead and another man seriously injured.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 11:38 a.m. on Wednesday, April 9. Authorities say a 2022 Ram 2500, driven by a 37-year-old man from De Soto, was traveling southbound on Highway 21 when it attempted to make a left turn into a private drive. The truck failed to yield to oncoming traffic and was struck on the right front side by a northbound 2013 Chevrolet Equinox.

The driver of the Equinox, a 55-year-old man from Potosi, sustained serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to Mercy Hospital South. A 63-year-old female passenger in the Equinox, also from Potosi, was pronounced dead at the scene by Washington County EMS personnel at 12:16 p.m. Her body was taken to the Washington County Morgue by the County Coroner.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene. The driver of the Ram 2500 was reportedly wearing a seatbelt and was not injured.
