Flash Flood Warning Issued for the Parkland

Park Hills, Mo. (KFMO) - Heavy rainfall across the Parkland Tuesday morning has prompted the National Weather Service (NWS) to issue a Flash Flood Warning for the area.

The warning includes southeastern Jefferson County, Sainte Genevieve County and northwestern St. Francois County until 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 16.

According to the NWS, at 9:33 a.m., doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the area. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas can occur.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

A Flash Flood Watch remains in effect until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 17.
