Fredericktown, Mo. (KFMO) - Fredericktown Mayor Travis Parker has provided an update on the ongoing power outage affecting Fredericktown, urging residents to prepare for another night without electricity.
The city's utility department and administration have been working tirelessly to address the issue, but restoring power is proving to be a complex process.
According to Mayor Parker, the power system's failure involves specialized components not commonly kept on hand, unlike poles and transformers. The city is actively searching for a mobile substation or the necessary parts to resolve the issue. However, the repairs will take time.
“We are working to resolve this, but this system will not be quickly fixed,” Mayor Parker explained. “My recommendation is to plan for tonight and into the morning to still be without power. I am hopeful that it is on before then, but I would rather be prepared than not.”
Compounding the issue, the outage has disrupted phone and internet services in the area, leaving city hall unable to receive calls or access the internet. Mayor Parker emphasized that the city is not ignoring residents’ concerns but is unable to respond due to the outage.
Important Reminder: Call Utility Lines, Not 911
Mayor Parker reminds residents not to call 911 to report power outages or inquire about restoration timelines. Instead, use one of the city’s main utility lines for assistance 573-783-2323, 573-783-2234, 573-783-2192, or 573-783-3660.
