Hart Faces Federal Charges

(Farmington, MO) A 36 year old Farmington man, Carl Hart, is charged with two federal crimes including a civil rights charge and two counts of possession of child pornography. The charges come after an alleged assault when he was a correctional officer at the Eastern Reception, Diagnostic and Correctional Center in Bonne Terre. A press release from the Office of the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Missouri indicates Hart deprived an inmate of the right to be free from unreasonable force by assaulting him while he did not pose a threat to anyone. According to the indictment the inmate was injured. Hart is facing the federal child pornography charges after he is alleged to have possessed child pornography between April of 2018 and June of this year. Hart is also facing three child pornography charges in St. Francois County. He is said to have had over 700 image and video files.
