Ice Storm; Winter Storm Warnings in Effect

Park Hills, Mo. (KFMO) - The National Weather Service has issued Ice Storm and Winter Storm Warnings for parts of the Parkland this weekend, forecasting dangerous winter conditions that could disrupt travel and power services.

An Ice Storm Warning is in effect for Iron, Madison, and Reynolds Counties from 10 p.m. Saturday to 6 a.m. Monday. Significant icing is expected, with accumulations between half an inch and three-quarters of an inch, along with up to 2 inches of snow. These conditions could lead to widespread power outages, tree damage, and impossible travel conditions.

A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for St. Francois, Ste. Genevieve, Washington, and Crawford Counties during the same period. These areas are expected to see 2 to 4 inches of snow and sleet, along with ice accumulations of up to half an inch. Similar impacts, including power outages and dangerous roads, are anticipated.

Officials strongly discourage travel during the storm. If travel is unavoidable, ensure your vehicle is equipped with an emergency kit, including a flashlight, food, and water. Residents should also prepare for potential power outages and monitor local weather updates for changes.
