Jefferson Co., Mo. (KFMO) - An Arnold woman, 71-year-old Jane E. Birkenbach, is dead after a two vehicle crash Thursday afternoon just before 1 p.m.
Missouri State Highway Patrol reports show Birkenbach was driving a car east from 15 Village Plaza in Arnold while a pickup, driven by 40-year-old Nathon L. Wilson, of Barnhart, was driving in the right lane of Highway 61 South. Birkenbach failed to stop and drove into the path of Wilson's truck. The two collided and Birkenbach's car began to slide across the road and into a grassy area.
Birkenbach was not wearing a seat belt during the crash. Wilson, who was wearing a seat belt, received minor injuries and was taken to Mercy Hospital South.
