Large Brush Fire Threatens Structures Near Old Irondale Road

St. Francois Co., Mo. (KFMO) - At 2:25 p.m. Monday, the Bismarck Fire Protection District was dispatched by St. Francois County 911 to a report of a brush fire near Old Irondale Road.

The fire quickly escalated as smoke was visible from miles away, prompting responding units to request two additional brush trucks. Upon arrival, the first responding unit found vehicles, brush, and debris on fire with multiple exposures, threatening nearby structures. Firefighters immediately set up defensive operations and established a fire line between the spreading flames and the structures at risk.

Due to the rapid spread and intensity of the fire, a Brush 1st Alarm was issued, bringing additional manpower and equipment from several area departments, including Big River, Caledonia, Desloge, Doe Run, Farmington, Irondale, Leadington and Leadwood.

Despite the challenging conditions, firefighters successfully contained the blaze and saved all structures in the vicinity. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
