(St. Francois County, MO) Two suspects are in custody in the St. Francois County jail after a high speed chase Thursday afternoon that ran through several counties in the Parkland at speeds that topped 130 miles per hour. The male suspect, 23 year old Ashlee Nettles, of Iowa, is charged with three counts of assault on law enforcement, one count of felony resisting arrest, and one count of felony property damage. The woman, 18 year old Cearra Hickman, of Illinois, could also be facing charges. Troopers with the Highway Patrol's Troop E, where the chase began, say they were trying to stop the vehicle for speeding in Wayne County. The car, a black Mercedes, shot north on Highway 67 through Madison and St. Francois Counties causing property damage to other vehicles on the highway. Law enforcement officers say several items were thrown out of the car during the chase. The pair drove north into Jefferson County and then headed north on Interstate 55. They were caught and arrested at the Herculaneum exit after turning off the highway. There could be additional charges coming for the two.
