McCloskey Pleads to Lesser Charges

(St. Louis, MO) Mark McCloskey, the St Louis attorney who, along with his wife Patricia, waved guns at protestors last summer when those protestors had illegally entered the gated community McCloskey lives in, is pleading guilty to lesser charges than he had originally faced. McCloskey pled guilty to one count of fourth degree assault. He and his wife Patricia were originally charged with two felonies including unlawful use of a weapon and tampering with physical evidence. Patricia McCloskey pled guilty to lesser charges of second degree harassment. The plea deal calls for Mark McCloskey to pay a $750 fine. Patricia McCloskey is ordered to pay $10 to the crime victim fund and $2,000 to the courts. Both weapons used by the McCloskey's during the incident have been ordered to be turned over to the state and destroyed. In regards to pleading guilty to the lesser charges McCloskey tells KFMO B104 News,..."One year ago, an angry mob crashed through my gate, and threatened my wife, my family, and my home. The prosecutor dropped all charges against me, except for a claim that I put other people in imminent fear of physical harm. That's exactly what I did, that's what the guns were for. And any time the mob comes and threatens me, I'll do the same thing again to protect my family."  McCloskey is a candidate for the United States Senate seat being vacated by Roy Blunt.
