Murder Charges Against Park Hills Man

(Park Hills, MO.) A Park HIlls Man, 50 year old Oscar Ortiz Junior, is charged with murder in the first degree and felony armed criminal action. Police allege Ortiz shot and killed 34 year old Adam Carroll, of Farmington, early Monday morning. Reports indicate the murder took place shortly after midnight in the 700 block of Third Street in Park Hills. Carroll had been shot in the head. Witnesses identified Ortiz as the shooter. He was captured by officers later driving too fast and losing control of his vehicle in the 4700 block of Flat River Road. The vehicle rolled over during the crash. Ortiz received minor injuries, was treated, and arrested. He's being held in the St. Francois County Jail on a $1 million dollar cash only bond. Charges are also pending on Ortiz in St. Francois County for felony unlawful use of a weapon and felony possession of a controlled substance from 2018.
