Bonne Terre, Mo. (KFMO) - The North St. Francois County R-I School District has announced the adoption of Alternative Methods of Instruction (AMI) for the 2024-2025 school year. This approach, designed to minimize disruptions caused by unscheduled closures such as inclement weather, ensures students can continue learning without extending the school calendar.
What Is AMI?
AMI is a state-approved system that allows Missouri schools to provide instruction remotely when schools are closed unexpectedly. Under the guidelines of SB 727, districts can implement up to five AMI days per year.
How It Works
When school is dismissed for an unscheduled day, parents and guardians will be notified via the district's communication channels and social media if the closure is an AMI day. Assignments must be completed and submitted when students return to school to count as present. Failure to submit assignments will result in an absence for the AMI day.
Materials will be distributed in one of two ways:
Digital Assignments: For students with internet access, assignments will be shared via district technology.
Paper Packets: For students without reliable internet, paper packets will be provided.
Support and Flexibility
The district recognizes the diversity of family situations and will ensure AMI materials are accessible for all students. Parents or guardians with questions about assignments can contact their child’s teacher by email during AMI days.
