Owens Bond Reduction Request Denied

Cape Girardeau, Mo. (KFMO) - The Cape Girardeau man, 20-year-old Kris E. Owens, accused of shooting an individual at last month's Cape Central High School's graduation, will not have his bond reduced.

A judge denied the request Thursday in circuit court. Authorities say Owens shot another man during an argument, close to a consession stand. Owens faces charges of first degree assault, armed criminal action, and unlawful use of a weapon.

He'll be back in court July 25, 2024 for a preliminary hearing.
