(Pilot Knob, MO) Officials with the Iron County Emergency Management Agency say the Pilot Knob Mountain fire is 100% contained. A post on the agency's Facebook page indicates you will likely see several flare ups but they are within the ringed section of the mountain fire area. Crews with the Missouri Department of Conservation, and U.S. Fish and Wildlife, are set to reinforce fire lines and cut potential snags that could fall across the lines. Local departments remain on standby and will assist as necessary. According to reports the fire started out with about 40 acres with some departments called out as early as 1 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. As of 6:45 pm the fire had jumped to 400 acres. Parkland fire departments had help from The Millersville, Gordonville, and Scott City fire departments as well as Jackson and Cape Girardeau fire and others. The blaze was contained by about 9:45 Tuesday evening.
