Potosi, Mo. (KFMO) - Superintendent Alex McCaul of the Potosi R-3 School District has announced his retirement, effective June 30, 2025. McCaul shared the news in a heartfelt letter to the district’s Board of Education and community on Wednesday, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to serve his hometown district, where he has been a student, teacher, administrator, and finally, Superintendent.
McCaul has spent his entire life in the Potosi district, which he credited for shaping him both personally and professionally. In his letter, he reflected on the unique privilege of returning to the district that raised him and expressed pride in all that has been accomplished during his tenure. He wrote, “It has been a profound experience to come full circle, from the classrooms that inspired me as a young learner to the role of Superintendent.”
McCaul’s leadership has seen the district reach numerous milestones and expand educational opportunities. Board of Education President Rhonda Phares praised his leadership, saying, “Superintendent McCaul has been a steadfast and visionary leader for our district. He has guided us through challenges and triumphs, always with a clear focus on what is best for our students.”
McCaul will continue serving until his retirement in June 2025 and looks forward to supporting the district as a community member and advocate for students in the future.
