Schoonover Pronounced Dead at Bonne Terre Prison

(Bonne Terre, Mo) - A Farmington man that was found guilty of statutory sodomy and child molestation by a St. Francois County jury back in November is now dead after only being at the Bonne Terre Prison for 3 days.  

In a news release by the Missouri Department of Corrections, 53-year-old Danny Schoonover was pronounced dead at the Bonne Terre Prison at around 5:30 Monday eveing.  He was just transferred to the Missouri Department of Corrections on January 24th.  

Details surrounding his death were not disclosed, only that an autopsy would be conducted.  

Schoonover was convicted on one count of first-degree statutory sodomy and one count of first-degree child molestation for his role in two incidents that occurred in 2016 — one at a residence in Farmington and the other while apparently driving. During an interview at the Children's Advocacy Center on May 1, 2017 with police, an 8-year-old female allegedly disclosed that Schoonover had performed a sexual act on her at a family member's house while she was in the man's care.
