State Bicentennial and Ride of Remembrance

(Farmington, MO) The Trail of Tears National Historic Trail and Missouri's Bicentennial are being honored. A special ceremony to remember them both was held Wednesday afternoon at Long Park in Farmington. A member of the Missouri Chapter of the Trail of Tears Association,, Rocky Miller, says the trail is not a trail of tears anymore, it's a trail of remembrance.

Several other dignitaries spoke during the program including Miller, Farmington Mayor Larry Forsyth, and State Representative Dale Wright. Even though it did shower heavily at one point of the program, many of those who attended gathered under the roof at the Long Park Gazebo to finish the ceremony during the rain.
