Stroud Sentenced for Possession of Child Pornography

Cape Girardeau, Mo. (KFMO) - A Wappapello man, 43-year-old Thomas O. Stroud, is being sentenced to 130 months in prison after pleading guilty to the charge of possession of child pornography, in U.S. District Court in Cape Girardeau last November.

According to court documents, Stroud has a prior federal conviction from 2009 for possessing child pornography.

Following his release from federal prison, Stroud was required to register as a sex offender. He was also placed on a 40 year term of supervised release.

In March 2024, while Stroud was serving his term of supervised release, Stroud’s probation officer discovered that he had been using a cell phone to communicate with someone in Indiana. During the communications, Stroud obtained several images of child pornography.

After serving his 130-month sentence, Stroud will once again be placed on supervised release.
