Surviving Summer Before Air Conditioning

(St. Francois County, MO) Trying to sleep in the summer heat was different before the advent of modern day conveniences like air conditioning. The Old Farmer's Almanac's, Dan Holiday, says people had several tips and tricks to help you stay cool at night through a summer heat wave.

According to Holiday you should beware of the dehydrating effects of caffeine and alcohol. To stay hydrated keep some water or a sports drink on your nightstand. Holiday can be heard with the Old Farmer's Almanac Report on the Parkland's Freedom Leader, KFMO.
