Winter Storm Heading for the Parkland: Significant Ice and Snow Expected

Park Hills, Mo. (KFMO) - The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for the Parkland, in effect from 6 p.m. Saturday to 6 a.m. Monday, as a significant winter storm is expected to impact the region.

Wintry precipitation is forecast to begin late Saturday night, between 10 p.m. and midnight, and will continue through Monday morning. A mix of freezing rain, sleet, and snow will create dangerous travel conditions, potential power outages, and tree damage.

What to Expect:

Parkland Area:

Between 1 to 3 inches of snow and sleet.
Freezing rain accumulation between 0.45 to 0.5 inches, with localized areas potentially seeing more.
Icy roads, fallen tree limbs, and scattered power outages are likely.

St. Louis North:

Predominantly snow, with totals ranging from 10 to 15 inches possible northward.

Transition Zone:

A mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain is expected, with amounts varying by location.

Winds:
On Sunday, gusty northeast to north winds will exacerbate the storm's impact, with sustained speeds of 15 to 20 mph and gusts up to 35 mph.
