Alan Thomure, of Farmington, entered eternal rest on October 6, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his loved ones at the age of 64. He was born in Bonne Terre, Missouri on September 2, 1960, to the late William "Bill" Thomas, and Mary Louise (Ratcliff) Thomure.
Alan is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Angela Christine "Christy" Thomure; his children, William Brandon Thomure, and Micheal Christopher "Chris" (Heather) Thomure; his grandchildren, Gage Michael Gobble, and Jayden Emily Thomure, all of Farmington; his sisters, Diane Shirley of Florissant, Dana (Thomas) Nausely of Desloge, Paula Chadwell of Farmington, and Melinda Thomure of Doe Run. Also surviving includes numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In addition to his parents, Alan was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kamryn Christine Thomure; his sister, Mary Beth Ketcherside; his maternal grandparents, George and Opal (Mabry) Ratcliff; his paternal grandparents, Joseph and Clara (Reich) Thomure; a very special aunt, Josephine "Jody" Ratcliff; and a very special niece, Marjorie Elizabeth "Beth" Hamlett.
Alan was a retired captain of the Farmington Fire Department, where he spent 29 years serving the community. He helped save countless lives and was one of many heroes often running into dangerous situations while others ran out. After retiring from the fire department, Alan spent time working at Napa Auto Parts and driving for SMTS Transportation. He fully retired on his birthday September 2, 2022.
Alan enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, and golfing himself while also watching them on television. He loved watching the Cardinals play baseball, was an avid NASCAR fan, and enjoyed watching old westerns. Alan never met a stranger, and often told stories of his childhood back on the farm. He was not one for showing his emotions, but he loved his family dearly and adored his grandchildren more than life itself. He would not hesitate to help his family and friends in any way that he could if they came to him with a problem. Alan will be fondly remembered, and dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held at Cozean Memorial Chapel on October 14, 2024, from 5 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 7 p.m. officiated by Pastor David Wright. Share your memories and condolences at cozeanfuneralhome.com.
