Francis 'Dusty' Vernon Wilson

Francis "Dusty" Vernon Wilson of Farmington, passed away on June 8, 2024, peacefully with his "Best Girl" at his side at John J. Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff at the age of 80 years. He was born on October 5, 1943, in Taskee, Missouri near Greenville to the late Robert Edgar and Blanche Lee (Meloy) Wilson.

Francis was a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend. He was known for his love of flying, fishing and dogs. He will be remembered as a kind spirited, loving and loyal person.

He was a veteran, entering the U. S. Army in 1967. While proudly serving in the Army, Francis was a helicopter mechanic. Later after leaving the Army, he spent most of his life working as an auto mechanic. Most of his career he worked for Sam Scism Ford where he retired in November, 2019 after thirty years of employment.

Dusty was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Pauletta Wilson, his sister, Margaret "Rosie" Nelson, his brothers, Ross Wilson, Harold Wilson, Lyndell Wilson, Ira Wilson, and Russell Wilson.

Francis is survived by his sister, Alice Christian of Iron Mountain Lake, Missouri; his children, Danny (Elena) Wilson of St John, Missouri, Paul Wilson of St. Peters, Missouri, Lisa Pitts of Troy, Missouri, Ronnie Wilson of Dyersburg, Tennessee and Angie (Mark) Griffin of Dyersburg, Tennessee; his grandchildren, Benjamin Pitts, Emily Pitts, Brian Griffin, Lain Wilson, Evan Wilson, Austin Wilson, Stephanie Wilson and Shania Wilson, his great grandchildren, Camden Persons, Wyland Pitts, Gavin Pitts, Maisyn Wilson and Mason Wilson, his "best girl", JoAnn; his sister-in-law, Sharon Wilson of Piedmont, Missouri, along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

A visitation will be held on Friday, June 14, 2024, beginning at 11 a.m. and continuing until the time of the funeral at 1 p.m. at Cozean Memorial Chapel. Military honors will be held at the end of the funeral service. Interment will follow at Rucker Family Cemetery.
