SUMMERSVILLE – Hoyt Herbst of Summersville, Missouri, entered eternal rest on July 5, 2024, at Hillcrest Care Center in Desoto at the age of 64. He was born on April 26, 1960, in Festus, Missouri, to Leonard Herbst and Dorothy (Gideon) Herbst.
Hoyt is survived by his children and their spouses, Gus and Gabby Herbst, Harley and Victoria Nash, Brent and Brooke Cooper, Morgan and Matt Barton, Dylan Hampton, and Leslie and Aaron Smith; his grandchildren, Willow, Natalie, Arya, Chase, Chesley, Kyleigh, Karson, Hayley, and Aariona; and his siblings, Susan Miller, Dan Herbst, and Rick Herbst; also surviving are nieces, nephews, and special friends.
Hoyt is preceded in death by his parents; his nephew, Braden May; his brother, David Herbst; and his friend, Tom Hampton. He is also preceded in death by the lead singer of Lynyrd Skynyrd, Ronnie Van Zant.
Hoyt spent most of his life working as a concrete finisher which he truly enjoyed. In his spare time, he enjoyed listening to music, spending time at the river with his family, and traveling.
A visitation will be held on Friday, July 12, 2024, from 4 – 8 p.m. at Cozean Memorial Chapel. Visitation resumes on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at 9 a.m. until the funeral service at 10 a.m. officiated by Pastor Roger Hogan. Interment to follow funeral service at German Cemetery in Park Hills.
