Ruby Short

Ruby Alene Short, of Doe Run, entered eternal rest on June 6, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loved ones at the age of 97. She was born on May 11, 1927, in Doe Run, Missouri, to Clarence and Ethel (Matkin) Cunningham. 

Ruby is survived by her children, Larry Short of Doe Run, Ken (Kay) Short of Doe Run, and Teresa (Les) Thomas of Bonne Terre, her grandchildren, Jason Thomas, James (Wendy) Short, Erin (Dave) Lange, Jessie Short, and Jenna (Jason) Flowers, her great grandchildren, Haylee (Dennis) Cabrera, Nicholas Short, Reagan Short, and James Short, Kenleigh Lange, Taylah Lange, and Cambreigh Lange,  Michael Sita, Eleanor Sita, and Anthony Sita, her sister, Isabel (Ken) Jackson of Waterloo, IL, many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Willard Ray “Junior” Short, and her siblings, Glenn Cunningham and Helen Staab.

Ruby was a longtime member of Pendleton United Baptist Church. In her younger years, she enjoyed playing volleyball, bowling, and gardening. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. 

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. at Cozean Memorial Chapel officiated by Pastor Dwayne Hampton.
