Dolly Parton Visits Missouri for 'Imagination Library' Program

Kansas City, Mo. (KFMO) - A country superstar hit the road to share her love of reading. Dolly Parton made a stop in Missouri Tuesday to discuss her 'Imagination Library' program.

She sang a little and talked about her dad.

Parton started the program in 1995.

During her visit, Missouri Governor Mike Parson presented Parton with a proclamation that on August 27, 2024 it is now 'Imagination Library of Missouri Day'.

The Imagination Library mails more than 2 million high-quality, age-appropriate books each month to enrolled children from birth to age five in 21 states and around the world. The statewide expansion of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library was made possible through $11 million in Fiscal Year 2024 and 2025 budgets for the distribution of books.
