Legislators Looking at Tax Reform in New Session

Jefferson City, Mo. (KFMO) - A new bill for Missouri legislators to discuss in the new session, House Joint Resolution 1, deals with changes to the state's income tax.

State Representative for the 117th District, and Senator elect for District 3, Mike Henderson, says he feels this is an issue legislators will spend a lot of time on.

If the measure were to pass during the new session it would be voted on to amend the state constitution to eventually do away with the state's income tax.

Eight other states have abolished their income tax. They include Alaska, Florida, Nevada, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, and Wyoming.

The next Missouri legislative session begins Jaunary 8th.
