10 Year Old Dies in Crash

(Washington County, MO) A 10 year old girl from Richwoods is dead after a one vehicle crash in Washington County Monday morning at 8:30. Highway Patrol Reports show an SUV was being driven south on Highway 21, north of Furnace Creek Road, by 36 year old Zachary R. Wideman of Richwoods, when it ran off the right side of the road and struck a tree. According to reports 3 boys, ages 6, 7, and 8, were passengers in the vehicle. They, and Wideman, all received serious injuries. Th4e 10 year old girl was pronounced dead at the scene. Wideman was taken to St. Louis University Hospital while the children were flown to St. Louis Children's Hospital. All the children were wearing their safety devices at the time of the wreck. Wideman was not.
