7 Tornadoes in Parkland Region

(St. Louis, MO) Storm Survey teams with the National Weather Service say 7 tornadoes touched down in the East Central, Missouri, and Southwest, Illinois regions Saturday leaving several communities with structural damage, blocked roads, and power outages. According to reports from the weather service the tornadoes closest to the Parkland were two separate touchdown's including an EF-0 strength at Hillsboro and an EF-1 at Pevely. There were also EF-1 touchdowns at Fenton and two cities in Illinois including Belleville and Maeystown. EF-0 tornadoes also hit Swansea, Illinois and south of Valmeyer. Heavy winds were reported in the Hillsboro area. Damage reports showed numerous trees and power lines down plus roof damage to many homes.
