Action Taken Against Personnel After Escape

(Jefferson City, MO) A press release from the Missouri Department of Corrections shows appropriate action has been taken against the personnel responsible for the escape of Potosi inmate Tommy Boyd from Mercy Hospital South at St. Louis. The release states, "While the department has a strict protocol in place for transportation, and supervision, of offenders receiving hospital care, our investigation has concluded that departmental protocol was not followed regarding offender Boyd at Mercy Hospital South. Appropriate personnel action has been taken." Reports show those responsible were relieved of their duties with the department. Boyd walked out of Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis Thursday morning around 4 am yet was back in custody that night. He was captured without incident. Boyd is serving a 30 year sentence for a 2007 conviction of felony enticement of a child from Greene County.
