St. Francois Co., Mo. (KFMO) - During the April 8, 2025 elections there are several issues and contested school races including two propositions in the Farmington Schools.
Proposition S would increase the district's operating tax levy by 40 cents per $100 assessed valuation brining the levy to $3.15. The levy is currently $2.75 cents and district officials say if approved the additional funds would help attract and retain quality certified personnel and support staff while expanding educational programming and meeting additional operating expenses.
The second issue for the Farmington Schools, Proposition F, would provide a no tax increase $48 million bond issue to provide funds for a long list of physical improvements including a new Performing Arts Center/Storm Shelter, additional parking, and a second floor classroom expansion at the high school. Other improvements including HVAC work, more classroom space, roof work, and technological upgrades, among other items, are district wide.
In the Potosi School District a similar bond measure, Proposition C.A.R.E., would provide a Performing Arts Center that could double as a shelter, resurface the existing track, replace Trojan Marching Band uniforms, and complete other repairs and improvements in the district.
Potosi school patrons will also vote for two out of five candidates to sit on the school board. The candidates include Tina Dicus, Rhonda Kay Phares, Andy Kincaid, Gary L. Greenlee Jr., and Melissa Cordia.
North County School District voters will vote for two out of three candidates for the school board that include Stella Hubbard, James (Jebo) Bullock, and Brian Whitfield.
In the West County Schools voters will decide on two out of three candidates for the school board including Tiffani Brooke Wright, Shawn A. Meinershagen, and Jared Wayne Lynch.
