Area Man Sentenced on Robbery and Firearm Charges

(Cape Girardeau, MO) An area man is headed to prison after pleading guilty to robbery and firearm charges. According to the U.S. Attorney's office, back in April of last year, 36 year old Steven Edmonds entered the Domino's Pizza located in the 1000 block of North Sprigg Street in Cape Girardeau and pulled a handgun, demanded money, then left with approximately $60. The next day, he walked into the CVS Pharmacy located in the 1500 block of Wentzville Parkway and demanded money at gunpoint, then left with roughly $216. Edmonds pled guilty back in February to two counts of robbery, and two counts of possession and brandishing of a firearm in the furtherance of a violent crime. He was sentenced Friday to nearly 18 years behind bars.
