Butler County Man Pleads Guilty

(Cape Girardeau, MO) A man from Butler County, 37 year old Donald Edward Christie Jr., is set to serve 3 years in prison after he pled guilty to threatening both a driver, and bar patrons, with a gun. Christie pled guilty to a felony charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm, on two occasions, on February 12th of 2022. The first was reported to the Butler County Sheriff’s Department about 15 minutes past midnight as Christie confronted a driver. The second violation was About 30 minutes later when  Christie threatened patrons and workers at a rural bar until they took him down and held him for authorities. U.S. District Judge Sarah E. Pitlyk sentenced Christie Monday. He pled guilty in January in U.S. District Court in Cape Girardeau. The case was investigated by the Butler County Sheriff’s Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Timothy Willis prosecuted the case.
