Charges Filed in Cedar Hill Shooting

Jefferson Co., Mo. (KFMO) - Charges have been filed in a shooting that took place Thursday night in Cedar Hill.

19-year-old Hunter Kirkpatrick of House Springs is charged with Assault – 1st Degree, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and two counts of Armed Criminal Action for allegedly shooting a 21-year-old man during an argument.

Shortly after 8 p.m., deputies responded to a fight in progress at the Cedar Hill River Access in the 7000 block of Cedar Hill Road. While deputies were on-scene investigating the fight, a separate argument began between Kirkpatrick and the victim. Despite the presence of law enforcement and numerous bystanders, Kirkpatrick allegedly drew a handgun and shot the victim multiple times. Deputies, being only feet away, immediately took Kirkpatrick into custody. They then turned their efforts to lifesaving aid for the victim.

“I’m certain the victim is alive today because of the quick actions by Deputies at the scene who jumped in to provide first aid until EMS crews from Big River Ambulance District arrived,” said Sheriff Dave Marshak. “I’d like to commend the Deputies, EMS, nurses, and surgeons who saved this young man’s life.”

The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he is still undergoing treatment. Kirkpatrick is being held without bond at the Jefferson County Jail.
