(Farmington, MO) A Farmington man is in custody after shooting a gun at children.
The Ste. Genevieve County Sheriff's Department was dispactched to the 8100 Block of State Route F, in Farmington, at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday for a report of the suspect shooting off rounds of ammunition at people that were on or near his property.
When the department arrived on scene, Chief Deputy Jason Schott says that they were informed that the suspect, later identified as 54 year old Jesse Wright, was still in the residence.
After a perimeter was set up by the sheriff's department, the Missouri State Highway Patrol and FBI SWAT teams were called in, becase it was determined that the department would need extraction teams. Schott says that both SWAT teams took over the tactical part of the operation. During that time, some leads came in that Wright had left the scene prior to authorities arriving.
At that time, the FBI SWAT team stayed at the scene to search the residence, and the Highway Patrol SWAT team, deputies with the sheriff's department, and officers with the Farmington Police Department went to the Super 8 Motel in Farmington, where the suspect was said to be at.
Early Wendesday morning, a search warrant was executed at the residence and the motel. The residence was cleared, and Wright was located at the motel and taken into custody without incident.
Wright has been charged with unlawful use of a weapon, felony; endangering the wellfare of a child, felony; and assault 4th degree - misdemeanor. Bond was set at $25,000 cash only.
