EF-3 Tornado Confirmed in Crawford and Washington Counties

Washington Co., Mo. (KFMO) - The National Weather Service has confirmed that an EF-3 tornado touched down in portions of Crawford and Washington counties on Wednesday, leaving a trail of destruction nearly 19 miles long.

According to National Weather Service officials, the tornado reached maximum wind speeds of approximately 165 miles per hour and had a maximum width of 200 yards. The powerful storm carved a path through rural communities, toppling trees, destroying homes, and downing power lines along its route.

Assessment teams from the National Weather Service have been surveying the impacted areas and say the tornado’s strength and duration made it one of the most severe to hit the region in recent years.

Local emergency management agencies continue to evaluate the full extent of the damage. No fatalities have been reported.
