Farmington, Mo. (KFMO) - A serious accident occurred Thursday afternoon, December 19, in the parking lot of the Farmington Pet Adoption Center in St. Francois County, leaving an 86-year-old Farmington woman with severe injuries.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the incident happened at approximately 3:41 p.m. when a 2013 Chevrolet Cruze, driven by a 62-year-old man from Bonne Terre, was backing out of a parking space and struck the woman, who was walking through the lot.
The pedestrian sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to Mercy Hospital St. Louis for treatment. The driver of the vehicle was reportedly wearing a safety device and was able to drive away from the scene after the incident. The vehicle sustained no visible damage.
