Elections Turnout May Increase

(St. Francois County, MO) Today's municipal April elections typically present a low voter turnout. St. Francois County Clerk, Kevin Engler, says Kevin Engler, says usually only 5% registered voters cast a ballot yet the marijuana tax issue could bring out more voters than expected.

The cities of Farmington, Park Hills, and Leadington, as well as St. Francois County, are asking residents to approve the collection of a 3% sales tax on the sale of recreational marijuana. The City of Farmington also has a one half of one percent sales tax on the ballot. It's designated for capital improvements.
