Elevated Fire level Today

(Park Hills, MO) According to officials with the National Weather Service there is an elevated fire level today in the Missouri counties of Saint Francois, Washington, Iron, Madison, Franklin, Crawford, Reynolds, Sainte Genevieve, Jefferson, and Saint Louis as well as Saint Louis City. The area also covers several southwestern Illinois counties including Randolph. The combination of low humidity and strong winds will lead to elevated fire weather conditions in Missouri today. Fire and weather officials say the combination of low humidity, strong winds, and dry vegetation, will support erratic fire behavior. It's recommended you consider leaving burning to the professionals this afternoon and make sure all fires are fully extinguished, no matter their size.
